NOTE FROM THE CHAIRMAN

We've had a most eventful season, and it's not over yet. Our first fundraiser in the Miami-Coral Gables area was hosted on January 21 by Dr. and Mrs. Jack Kaplan. It was a wonderful success and thanks to the Kaplans, CFXF now has many more supporters. On February 11, our dear friend and long time supporter, Vi Werner, hosted a very special evening at her home for the benefit of CFXF. The event featured a visit by Nobel Laureate, Dr. Avram Hershko of the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology. Our friend Ileane Kaufman arranged Dr. Hershko's visit and we are very grateful to her.

We are busy planning our first joint CFXF-Scripps Florida fundraiser scheduled on April 16 and 17, 2007 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Read more about the conference plans on page 3.

CFXF is blessed with so many caring and generous supporters. Sheila Engelstein is a board member. Mr. and Mrs. Engelstein have made a sizeable donation that will allow CFXF to fund two exciting projects in Israel over the next three years. They also hosted a home event last year. Thank you Alec and Sheila for your generosity and continued support.

We look forward to welcoming CFXF Scientific Advisor Dr. Randi Hagerman of the MIND Institute in Sacramento, CA for her visit in May. Many of our parents have made appointments to see Randi while she is here and they are planning a gala around her visit, as well. We have all too few opportunities to visit with Randi and we enjoy her visits.

Partly as a result of my work in Washington the Autism community is learning that the best hope for them may very well come through research on Fragile X. As always, thank you to all of you for your continued support, without which our work to find a cure for Fragile X could not continue.
