FROM THE PRESIDENT
We have just passed the year and a half mark since
founding Conquer Fragile X Foundation. In that
time, much has been accomplished - a great deal
with the help of an ever increasing body of friends
and supporters.
We provide grants for research to Prof. Howard
Cedar and Prof. Aharon Razin of Hebrew University,
Dr. Michael Fry of TechnionIsrael Institute of
Technology and Prof. Menahem Segal of The Weizmann
Institute.
Our Foundation was well represented and took an
active part in the 7th Annual International Fragile
X Conference held in July, 2000 in Los Angeles,
California.
Our Parent Group Leaders, Wende Banks, Kathy Doring,
Randy Green, and Julia Paul-Mondaizie, have made
exceptional outreach efforts representing our
Foundation in a broad range of activities and
attracting greatly increased interest and support
for our efforts.
On November 2nd, the grandparents of our beloved
Matthew Hollin: Sande, I and Mr. & Mrs. William
Bell, will co-host a reception and dinner for
other Fragile X families and research supporters
at The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida.
We are participants in a joint fund raising event
to benefit CFXF and The FRAXA Research Foundation,
which will be held in October at Green Valley
Country Club in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania,
and which has been coordinated with the exceptional
skills and Herculean efforts of Cristy Hollin.
The work and goals of our Foundation have attracted
attention from newspapers throughout South Florida,
and along with our web site (www.cfxf.org) has
brought inquiries worldwide making us an increasing
resource for information about Fragile X.
All of this good news, just touches on our strides
made in the last year and a half - all of which
we could only have accomplished with your help.
However, the only accomplishment that truly matters
is that our efforts help in finding improved treatment
and, ultimately, a cure for Fragile X. We need
your continued support to do that.
Welcome to the new format of our newsletter. We've
got good news and interesting information, so
please read on - and thanks again for all of your
help.

Israel
Association Resolution
The following resolution, in appreciation of members
of the Palm Beach Country Club in Palm Beach,
Florida, is the result of the initiatives taken
by Ambassador (rt) Asher Naim and Ofer David,
devoted friends of Conquer Fragile X Foundation
and members of its Board of Advisors. Though the
Ambassador is unable to present the Resolution
himself, at this time, Harris Hollin will do so
in his place. When the Ambassador and his wife
are down in Florida in March of 2001 on behalf
of The Scholarship Fund for Ethiopian Jews, which
he chairs, he will personally reiterate the appreciation
of the Israel Association of Fragile X Families
to Mr. David Mack, President of the Palm Beach
Country Club.
"The Israel Association of Fragile X Families,"
which consists of one hundred families, has made
the following resolution today, October 10, 2000:
Whereas 67 members of the Palm Beach Country
Club did provide the seed capital for the funding
of the virtual Fragile X Research Center in
Israel, established by Harris Hollin, founder
of Conquer X Foundation, Inc., and whereas said
funding is supporting research at The Technion,
The Weizmann Institute of Science and The Hebrew
University of Jerusalem which may lead to a
cure of this leading genetic cause of mental
retardation, and whereas should said cure be
found in Israel, will bring accolades to our
Country for the work of our scientists in helping
Fragile X victims throughout the world, be it
therefore resolved that we express appreciation
and gratitude to the Palm Beach Country Club
and that this Resolution be presented to its
President, Mr. David Mack.
